2008 Scholarship Awards Luau
The Desert Rainbow Foundation held its 15th Annual Scholarship Awards Luau Dinner, on Saturday May 31 at the Doral Resort in Cathedral City. Fifteen students from throughout the Coachella Valley were awarded scholarships of $2,500 each to pursue studies in post secondary, college and vocational education programs.
Among those students, a special “President’s Award” of an additional $1,000 was provided to Joshua King.
Educational institutions in the valley are notified early in the year of the availability of the scholarships and recipients are chosen by a committee chaired by Fred Jandt, Dean of California State University San Bernardino, Palm Desert campus.

Grammy Award winning recording artist and Tony Award winning Broadway star Jennifer Holliday performed at the Desert Rainbow Foundation’s 2007 “Evening of Song, Friendship and Giving” on November 17 at the Westin Mission Hills in Rancho Mirage.
The event is the Foundation’s annual fund raising effort to support its scholarship program and other charitable endeavors. Jennifer Holliday was catapulted into international stardom with her performance in the smash Broadway hit, “Dreamgirls.” She has recorded five CD’s and given solo and symphony pops concerts throughout the world.
The Evening of Song, Friendship & Giving is an annual fundraising event. The lion's share of our donations is raised at this sensational gala. Usually held in November, this fabulous event attracts the desert's movers and shakers with open hearts and open wallets! Attendees enjoy deliciously catered dinners, live and silent auctions, amazing entertainment and, of course, the company of wonderful friends. The Desert Rainbow Foundation would like to thank all the business owners and artisans who donate goods, services and artwork that make "The Evening" such a resounding success year after year. It was a sensational evening.

Teddy Bear Fundraisers
The Teddy Bear program is near and dear to many hearts. Our Teddy Bear program raises funds to provide bears to children in crisis. Events are held throughout the year at various locations. Through the generosity of the community, much needed funds are contributed so children, in otherwise desperate situations, can have something to smile about.
